Combined Driving - a three phase competition based on the sport of eventing (formerly known as combined training). The first phase is dressage, scored by one to three judges. The next phase is the marathon which consists of three parts: Phase A - a 5-7 kilometer course, performed at any gait at a set speed and time. Phase D is a one kilometer walk, to be completed within a specific time. Phase E is a 5-7 kilometer obstacle course of sorts - navigation through a maze of marked gaits, red on the right, white on the left in the correct alphabetical order. The obstacles are timed, the longer you take the more penalty points you accrue. The final phase is cones - a sea of numbered orange cones, set at a distance slightly wider than your carriage. A yellow ball sits at the top of each cone - the goal is to complete the course under the optimum time without knocking any of the balls down! Lowest score at the end of the competition wins!
